Happy New Year to all ‘photo bloggers’ and especially to …
Since ‘launching’ this blog on the last day of October 2012, to indulge grumpytyke‘s interest in photography, especially film photography and classic cameras, I’ve had so much pleasure, inspiration and motivation from so many people who like to take pictures. Some of them had impressed me so much that I transferred my ‘follow’ of them from my other original more general blog, some I’ve discovered only recently from here.
Some I’ve seen every one of their posts. For others, who post several times a day, I may have missed some of their best as I have to choose just one based on the title as there just isn’t time to open so many posts. To all of you, a big thank you for giving me so much pleasure. To those who have left a ‘like’, or even a comment, on my efforts, an even bigger thank you – they are so helpful as I struggle to relight a passion of years ago.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all – may your year be full of rainbows.
Here’s a list of the blogs I follow for their photography (though sometimes the words too), in roughly the order in which I discovered them.
Some of you have published now some of what you think are your best photos of 2012. So I thought I’d put just one which for me is the most indicative that I may be getting somewhere.
It’s of a genre which I have said I really want to get into – so-called ‘street photography’ – and it was taken almost at the end of the year, on Boxing Day, and published only a couple of days ago. Why do I like it? Well, although technically it has some short-comings, and I dislike the film, it captures very well the atmosphere of the location, the oldest pub in the village where I live, I love the expression on the boy’s face as he has me spotted while everyone else is unaware, and I’m pleased with my ‘technique’ – ie managing to get exactly what I wanted in the frame without using the viewfinder, and balancing the Olympus XA3 on my glass of wine to provide a stable base for the long exposure, even on 400Tmax at 800ASA.
